According to my clock, I have only 7 hours and 52 mins left of my holidays before I step back into school. Sigh, why do holidays pass so fast? While I was reading the newspapers just now, I saw a letter written to the Straits Times Forum regarding the issue of whether Holidays should be free from homework and books. I personally feel that this particular issue concerns most of us as students.
If u have asked your parents about their school life, they would probably answer that they loved it. My parents even encouraged me to enjoy my school life instead of being so stressed out about homework. I am sure that every student wants to enjoy and have a wonderful memory about their school life when they leave. No one wants to remember how stressed out they were in school. Everyone wants to have fun in whatever they do.
Now, if you ask me, I would tell you that holidays are meant as a break for students(with the exception of September Holidays). They should enjoy and relax themselves instead stressing on how to complete their homework on time. Students should get to do things that they did not have time for during school days like learning new skills etc. Teachers should really not give homework. Instead, students can go on their own revision during holidays but it cannot be more than what you can take during normal school days. This can help students to improve their self-discipline in a way. Holidays should never be used only to complete your homework and get even more stressed. This can also prevent students from rushing out everything on the last day and go to school like a zombie( which I bet many would be in a state similar).
Holidays should also be used to improve family relationships and friendships. Take the time to meet up with your primary school friends or go on a vacation with your family. Take a break.
The bottom line is homework should never be a part of holidays at all. Holidays are for fun right?
